Attractions in the surroundings

Migrating dunes - the most unusual attraction in Łeba. It resembles the desert and its surface is around 500 hectares between the Sea and Łebsko lake, the highest is around 42 meters above the sea level (the name comes from Łaczka village covered by the dunes in the XVIII century). In short, the phenomenon and the process of their developement can be described in the following way: coastal current is flowing along the Polish Baltic coast from the west to the east which is carrying sand from Ławica Słupska. Sea waves are throwing out the sand to the shore where it dries in the sun. Next, it is blown over the top of beach dunes and is deposited on their external side in the form of shafts. Later it is blown from the tops of shafts and it creates sandy tongues. Some of them occupied by plants become motionless and others are gradually blown away and are carried into the depth of the spit where they are being deposited. This process is taking place alternately leading to the creation of groups of migrating dunes.

Rocket Launcher - a secret german proving ground from the times of World War II. It is located halfway between Rąbka and dunes. Works on a new anti-aircraft missile code name " RHEINTOCHTER," ballistic missile RHEINBOTE / V4 / and a single-stage, anti-aircraft FAUERLILIE missile has been carried out there.

Lighthouse in Stilo - erected on the top of the green dune (at the height of 55 meters above the sea level) in the years 1904-1906. Currently, it is one of 15 lighthouses which are operating on our coast. The lighthouse was located in this place due to shallow waters that are present in this area and which were the cause of numerous sea disasters. It is 33,4 meters high and the range of light is around 43 km. There is a wreck of Vest Star ship nearby.

Lighthouse in Czołpino - build in 1875. At first, the fuel of the source of light was mineral oil which was replaced with electric light during the inter-war period. The light range is around 12 sea miles.

Kluki - fishermen village in Smołdzino commune, museum of Słowińska Village. It covers an area of 8 hectares and includes over 20 facilities in which several hundred of exhibits are gathered. During the first days of May there is a folk event organised - black wedding – demonstration of different areas of everyday life of the former village like spinning of silk, weaving, tying nets, digging peats, baking and tasting bread in the bread stove. It is also possible to see the work of the potter. All is accompanied by the sounds of Kashubian music bands and folk teams. In the first half of September there is a folk event. Its theme concerns autumn season for example: fermentation of cabbage, squeeing beetroot juice etc.

Rowokół - a holly Slovian mountain 115 meters above the sea level, later a cult place where pilgrimages from the whole Pomoranian and outside of it where proceeding. At the top of it there is an observation tower (around 20 meters high) from which one can watch the panorama of the Slovinski National Park. In the early middle ages, fires which were burnt on the mountain enabled all seamen orientation in the sea.

Nowęcin - village in Wicko commune and a fortified castle (built in 1497) located by the shore of Sarbsko lake and a large horse farm offering riding lessons, light carriage ride and equestrian therapy.

Natural museums of the Slovinski National Park - in Smołdzin, at ul. Mostnika. It is divided into 6 thematic sections: general, beach, dunes, lakes, forests and archaeological section – its branch in Rąbka and Rowy.
